Consultation Service

Karah consults with school teams regarding when to move forward with an evaluation, the interpretation of results of an evaluation, and appropriate assessment tools. She reviews progress monitoring and teacher data and makes suggestions about interventions and modifications.

Karah also consults and provides recommendations for behavior and mental health support for students. Consultation services are complementary for any cases that she is contracted to complete. These services are included prior to, during, and after the contracted evaluation.

All other consultations where she is not evaluating the student or when a contract has not yet been formally agreed on are charged at a flat rate of $200.00 per consult. Consultations are conducted via telephone and Zoom and are followed by a written summary of the discussion and recommendations.

Psycho-educational Testing FAQs

  • I will correspond either by telephone, Zoom, or E-mail to iron out the details including if I will be assessing in person or virtually. I will contact parents for input and help them complete any necessary rating scales. I will complete the report in a Word document and send it to your district to copy and paste into your report writing software. My standard reports include parent input and student developmental, social, and medical history, student interview, testing observations, administered testing and behavior rating scales write ups and tables, comments regarding rule out factors and standardization, recommendations, and my opinion on a disability determination. The district school psychologist case manages the report and gathers teacher rating scales, teacher input, local and state assessment data, and present educational levels. The reason an onsite case manager gathers these pieces is because I do not have easy access to this data.

If your district does not have a school psychologist or qualified case manager, I can gather all information for you and enter it into the PaTTAN Evaluation, Re- Evaluation, of Gifted reports for an additional fee. In these cases, districts will need to send me the appropriate information to review and document in the report.

  • Currently I am located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and drive to schools in a two-hour radius for evaluations. For an additional fee, if my schedule permits, I sometimes extend that radius. Virtual evaluations can be arranged for any student who attends a public school in the state.

  • Virtual assessments can take place anywhere in the state. For virtual assessments, an adult needs to be with the student in a quiet room with a table and have access to a computer that can access Zoom. Pencils without an eraser and scrap paper are also needed.

During the virtual evaluation, students need an adult to give them workbooks and complete some pencil and paper assessments that cannot be administered virtually. The adult serves as a monitor to ensure the student is following standard procedures as much as possible and isn’t using unapproved items like a calculator or translator that often cannot be seen over a Zoom session.

The adult can be whoever is free in a district such as a paraprofessional, classroom aid, or administrative staff. A certified school psychologist or teacher does not need to be present during the virtual evaluation.

  • A quiet small room with a table and two chairs. Any space that is quiet, private, and has a space for the student to write will work!

  • I can make arrangements with the family for testing in their home or an alternative setting outside of school hours.

  • My schedule fills up quickly so the more time I have, the better! I suggest contacting me prior to getting the PTE signed or as soon as you have it signed. If you need testing and the report completed in less than 14 calendar days, I will charge an extra fee.

  • That depends on what the school requests, when you request it, and where you are located.

Most of my evaluations range from $1,500.00 - $3,000.00. I do charge the federal mileage rate of $0.56 per round trip mile for districts within a two-hour radius. I will provide you with a quote prior to us agreeing on my services. If you have more questions about testing fees, please contact me directly.

  • Usually, I do not attend the MDE meeting. I call parents and explain my testing results and consult with the school team about my results. Sometimes I make exceptions and attend MDE meetings in person or virtually if needed and if my schedule permits.

  • I provide trainings on the following topics in person and virtually, please inquire for a quote. I can also tailor the presentation to fit your school’s needs:

  • No, currently I only contract and provide psychoeducational testing for school districts. I am happy to review district testing results and evaluation reports for parents if I do not have a working relationship with the school district where their child attends.

If I contract with the school district, it would be a conflict of interest for me to serve as an advocate or review evaluation reports for parents of students who attend that school district.

The consultation fee for parents who wish for me to review evaluation reports and assessment data or provide advice on the special education process and procedure is charged at a rate of $200.00 per hour.
